The moderator hadn't posted anything anywhere in over 8 months, but as soon as I took over the tribe and dumped the trolls, she showed up and was mad at me. If anyone responds you're told "don't feed the troll" so the tribe... completely dies... and the troll wins. The only way to break the cycle is force out the moderator, and that can be uncool too. After being absent from Tribe as a whole for nearly a year, it's good to be back. Taking some time away did a world of good for me, btw. I may not become quite as active as I once was- but for a good reason. I am working on several other aspects of my life right now and simply don't have the time/energy to make (or allow) tribe to become the larger slice of pie it used to be for me. I used it as an escape far too often...and subsequently engaged in minor self-sabotage when it came to RL issues. Since a pattern is emerging I figured I'd give you all a heads up. EH is a moderated tribe because there has been a lot of history with nasty fights breaking out, abusive trolls coming in and a lot of harsh and mean words exchanged. Because of this I have basically instituted a policy about letting people join. If I get a request to join the tribe from someone who is obviously active on tribe, has friends listed on their profile, has photos of themselves in their profiles and is not obviously disruptive in other tribes I will let them in immediately. Profiles with no photos, no friends, no other tribe affiliations or ones that show a history of fighting with other tribe members are generally held a few days. If its a new person and the profile gets added to then I'll let you in. If its a new person and the profile seems already dead then I likely will not let them in. I tend to shy away from profiles that seem to contain no personal photos or writings. If you have a friend in EH and they drop me a note about how wonderful you are, I will let you in.
