I had a Clinton sign in my front yard for about 5 hours before it got stolen. I notice that my neighbor's all have Obama signs. So sad. Is this what;s it;s come down to? It's not even about Pub's vs Dem's; it's Dem's vs. Dem's.
So I find myself supporting the underdog once again...but you Obama supporters make this quite easy, don't you? Keep it up. Really. Fucking keep it up and we'll see just how childish America's "Elite" really are. Stealing political signs? C'mon. Where is the LOVE?!?!?!?

Re: Stolen political sign
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 10:38 PMBaby-girl, what make her the "underdog"? She's still winning, as far as she's concerned! And look how completely adaptable she is! I'm sure she had a hard life as a coal miner's daughter, which is why the poor, "hard-working" whites should identify with her so strongly! ;o)
Kryssa, you *know* I adore you, right? It'll be interesting to see how things play out. I also have to say that no one, in my neighborhood, has signs out on the lawn - they're in the living room windows, or not at all. When I worked for a group that was trying to establish a public utility district MANY years ago, PGE, an Enron affiliate, threw millions of dollars at the effort to squelch it, including the removal of yard signs. A demeaning tactic, that either steels or erodes. Hard to say what makes the most sense, tactically. Me, I'd leave your sign, but have one of my own. Hugs and Blessings, beautiful girl! ~ Misha -

Re: Stolen political sign
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 12:33 AMThere aren't many signs in my neighborhood and I am grateful for that.
I get enough of it on tv that when I turn on real life tv driving through the neighborhood; I get to miss the majority of advertisements.
I imagine that will all change when it is just 2 candidates, but it's nice to have a moment without the eyesores.
Betcha.....
all are pretty tired o politics by now.

Re: Stolen political sign
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 12:48 AMK, don't fall for the Dems Vs. Dems that's what they (whoever 'they' are, they are the one's who stole your sign) want you to do! There's plenty of love and though I'm not planning on voting for Hillary Clinton (sorry, I think the one name thingy is demeaning) I don't think she should drop out for the 'good of the party' or whatever. All my money is on Mitt Romney, but I hope that I am wrong.
For those that think that is totally crazy, here's how it will play out: McCain will choose Mitt as running mate and then drop dead (I mean LOOK at the man, I know he went through the prison camp and all, but he is ready to drop) Mitt will then take over as the second coming of Reagan. It's depressing, it's despicable, but I hope to make some dough on the wager that will enable me to insulate myself from the outcome (maybe by moving to Mars).
P.S. if you want to vote for the underdog, try Dennis Cucinich or Ron Paul or better yet Mike Gravel.

Re: Stolen political sign
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 7:43 AM"Underdog" is such an empty word when you're talking about which of the multi-milionaires is going to get to become Supreme Ruler of the Universe that it actually infuriates me. -

Re: Stolen political sign
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 8:41 AMK- I stole your Clinton sign, burned it and than buried the ashes of that sign into a hole on sacred Indian ground and still the woman won't fucking just give up already.
Put another sign up..
And how do you know the supporters of a black candidate would go and steal your sign?
Really. Tsk.

Re: Stolen political sign
Fri, May 9, 2008 - 9:38 AMThe Republicans will stop at nothing.
Just discovered (the horses mouth) a minor on-going plot in this part of the country. Republicans have been changing their registration to Democrat, so they can vote as Democrats in the upcoming primary. They are voting for Obama. -

You've got it backwards. Rush Limberger (he stinks like cheese) has been promoting what he calls "Operation chaos".Republicans switching and voting for Hillary. Ever since Grampy Warhawk clinched the righty nomination he has been pushing that and if you analyze the timing of Hill's comeback it coincidesexactly with the moment in time when the republican primaries no longer mattered (started in OH) All the reports I've heard said that Indianna was actually put in Hill's column by republicans switching party affiliations. -

As long as this doesn't work, it's kind of encouraging; It means peeps are genuinely afraid of Obama. Hopefully they're afraid of him for the reasons I support him. -

Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 11:10 AMI didn't get it wrong, I really do think any tampering with the election is bad. Also, the repugs want to vote Clinton in as the democratic nominee because they think she will be easier for McCain to beat in the general election.
Plus, Rush is a fucking douche bag. IMO -

Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 7:55 AMGot another Hillary sign last Saturday when I went to see Bill speak on campus (he's such a brilliant speaker!). It's Monday and the new sign has also vanished. *poof* (Amazingly, all of the neighborhood Obama signs are still intact. This divisiveness is not coming from ME stealing signs folks...hullo?)
This is ridiculous. Political signs are paid for by campaign money and aren't cheap. And I'd really like to know what this thief was thinking? "Oh my! This yard sign is a serious threat to the candidate I'm supporting...better sneak over in the middle of the night and steal it before anyone changes their mind".
Whatever. I got a few more to put in my windows and unless this thief is so comfortable stealing things from my property then perhaps having an actual door and a few walls will keep him/her from absconding with any more.

Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 10:25 AMWell yes, it is coming from you because it only took ONE person to steal your sign and yet you managed to blame and label an entire group of people without really knowing what is going on or who is behind it. THAT is what is divisive.
Yes it totally sucks but it is not like everyone who supports Obama took your sign and it doesn't mean the whole thing boils down to Dem against Dem. Maybe you just have a sucky neighbor who is pissed at you. Who knows?

Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 12:06 PMI am going to steal every Clinton sign you get ,Kryssa, EVERY SINGLE SIGN.
Your Clinton sign is a serious threat to the viability of my chosen candidate. YOUR sign is what will make it mathetically possible for Senator Clinton to win the nomination.
Your sign will startle any passing Super delegate who might be wandering through your neighborhood into t hinking " Hold the phone, I WAS going to go for Obama since it seems every one here on this street with a yard likes the guy, but hey! There is a Hillary sign! I should really rethink this position once again."
Seeing the name Hillary on your yard sign make my own personal Obamapalooza that much less palooza like.
However, if you were to put a sign in your window, you would thus stymie my sign stealing ways, and quite possibly save the election and make history for all vagina carriers all over the country.
I am already cursing and shaking my fist at the sky at your wilyness. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 12:24 PMCrap! I knew it was YOU all along, Elaine! (I was sorta secretly hoping it was you, anyway)
-K
p.s. Maybe, just maybe someone really NEEDED that sign for say, oh I dunno...a makeshift umbrella or, or, or maybe to shoo away some rabid magpie. I think the next sign will have a little memo attached stating that it is under 24/7 surveillance. -

Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 1:42 PMAlso attach a note saying it's already reserved for me. -

Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 2:13 PMHAHA! Well, sings of a feather and all, ya know? They never did fit in all that well in my neighborhood anyway. (I wonder how long a McCain sign would last here.)
Anyway, for the record I am not angry with Obama supporters en masse...just the sign stealers. Last year someone stole my twins bicycles (we didn't lock them up cuz they're worth like $50 brand new and it never even occurred to me that someone would try to steal children's bikes) and I was royally furious with the ENTIRE population of children's bicycle thieves.

Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 2:30 PMi thought that the standard way to stop sign thieves is to attach a note to the side of the sign saying : "by stealing this sign you are SUPPORTING my candidate... i will go and contribute a few more dollars to their campaign now to get a new sign!" i have heard that this is an effective tactic... gl, h. -
-
Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 2:48 PMI'm thinking that I might just create a sign that says, "Here stands the remains of a stolen political sign". Given the plethora of political signs still standing in my neighborhood as well as the one's in my windows it should be fairly obvious why it was stolen.

Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 2:51 PMOr, better yet, I could have my genius head roommate rig the next one with some sort of device that laughs maniacally whenever it gets moved more than an inch off it's wire frame. The thieves keep leaving me with the empty skeletal, wire frame...which I suppose is actually rather considerate of them. (Though, I suppose it could also be laziness).

Re: Stolen political sign
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 3:30 PM>>>empty skeletal
really? i thought itd be easier to just pull up the whole thing? do they cut it out? or is it basically trivial to remove the insides from the frame? if that is the case - i think it is time for some peanut butter or grease or ky-jelly... lol

Sorry, the phrase "the horses mouth" applies.
I personally know people who did as stated. Met one at the Courthouse in the process of changing registration. So far as they knew I was/am neutral on the question as I was registered Independent for years. Had no reason to lie about it.

Re: Stolen political sign
Sat, May 31, 2008 - 6:48 PMYard signs are pretty worthless to begin with. There is nothing about a yard sign that would convince anyone to vote for any particular candidate. The sign has the candidate's name on it. Nothing else. If a person decides who to vote for based on a sign, They're probably not going to be able to figure out how to use the voting machine anyway. Or how to scribble an X for their signature. I remember one election season many years ago, lots of houses in my neighborhood had signs up for various local candidates. I stole a sign from a yard in another county and put it in my yard just to confuse the issue. And the ones that are put up in public places? Why aren't the campaigns charged for the clean-up costs after the election when people don't take them back down?
