"Having said that, here in Alaska we are accustomed to getting jobs we're not qualified to fill. In our far-flung villages and towns we have big money surrounded by big wilderness; the combination causes warped career opportunities. Sort of an Edge of Nowhere phenomenon -- cousin to the Bridge to Nowhere one."

Well, this clears up one burning question I've had in my mind all along....how does someone without a real curriculum vitae and only a hint of political experience get chosen for running mate in the U.S. Presidential election? Now we know.

I am so moving to Alaska. I am overly qualified to fill a job I am not qualified to fill.

        Thanks for the linkee.

I'll come with you, Elaine. Perhaps we could hitch up an old wagon train from the Pacific Northwest (and invite those pesky New Englanders that apparently transplanted themselves here...according to Palin anyway) if they'd like to join us.

I could be so deliciously underqualified for so very many positions. Ah, I'm just salivating at the prospects. Where else can having few job skills and a sub-par education land you so close to the White House?

Aw crap. Please excuse my poorer than poor grammar in that last post. I got a phone call halfway through and pieced things together all haphazardly.

It's okay, you were too under qualified to correct your grammar. Perfect.

Can I hire you as my underqualified editor?

Okay, so according to the author of this article/essay Palin is a squeaky-clean, glossy magazine photo opp compared to the average population of "real" Alaskans (yes, I'm paraphrasing)...might this explain why she came in second in the state beauty pageant? Not as opposed to the winner, but as compared to actual hard working and hard living Alaskan gals that didn't place at all? IOW, this is just one more indication that Palin is very out of touch with her peers, her state (though she was born in the midwest and attended several colleges and one community college during her 6 year undergraduate track), her constituents and *gulp* her country. Either of them...America or Alaska.
