hmmm - uh, somewhere along the lines i missed (prolly wasnt tribe-ing) the whole refugee thing on ning or facebook or whatever.

i agree with whoever-it-was that said that tribe strikes me as a good collection-of-forums... that is how i approach it. when it is down, i just dont read those forums...

i tried ning (but some other thing/group there - and ive long-since lost touch with that site) but it was SO much less-cohesive than tribe that i could not be bothered to try and track it.

facebook required something to log in that i did not have, was it a student-id-email or somesuch? ive ignored it and noone i know in RL uses it, afaict.

i created a myspace account awhile ago - and that is the place i use for a social-networking site and blogs and that kinda crud. it is also where i only posted my high-school info and got a few hits from folks id never even thought about in years. myspace has its problems and a certain class-system between the young-punks (who really made it popular), the commercial-entities (i do not want to read-your-poetry, tyvm), and the older-crowd (who oftentimes use it to keep-in-touch/track what youngsters are up to as well as network amongst themselves)...

i havent thought about shadow-walker in forever... is he still around? i dont think im tribe-friends with him anymore, tho id have to double-check... there are lots of old-timers around here and other sites that just sorta "disappear"... what happened to that cool african-american dude who used to post here (and he followed some of the adam-crap) when EH was having its dramas? whatever - i guess it is not critical, just curiousity on my part...

anyways - i keep hearing about tribe issues... if it goes away - i guess it will just go away... wasnt there some really important guy (tm) who used to keep this site running that left not-too-long ago? tribe is down enough times that it can be a bit frustrating - but these sites are not that critical to life - at least not to me...

are they (tribe/facebook/myspace/ning) really that important ? i use them like a bit-more-interactive version of television... i do not vote on those idol/fashion/dancing shows, but i do have conversations online here that serve a socializing function if im feeling lonely. but, like the proverbial parent comment "go outside and play" - if tribe/etc were to disappear, would we not just go back to bars/clubs/soccer-leagues and play again? (except maybe not at 3a like we can here.... lol)

It would be even easier to insert one's head in one's ass if ti was dismembered from one's body! That said, the head up ass position predates social networking sites and this site isn't really much different in terms of being a private entity created for profit. I believe that cave drawings illustrating ancient head up ass techniques were recently discovered during an recent excavation of an ancient sacred social networking site (with the sacred mating dance and ritual battles being the chief activities at these sites).
